1) What specifically are the changes taking place in the Myers Industries Lawn &
Garden Group’s manufacturing locations?
Myers will be consolidating three of our manufacturing facilities into four existing facilities. This will include:
After careful analysis of the market, these changes in operations are necessary so that we are be better aligned with customer locations and current and anticipated market requirements. The Management Team at the Myers Industries Lawn & Garden Group determined that the best way to most efficiently service our customers is to realign our manufacturing around our two primary and largest facilities – located in Middlefield, OH and Brantford, ON. In addition, our presence in the Southwest at Waco, TX will remain and grow.
2) Why are these changes being made?
Customer care is a top priority. Our changes now will strengthen the Myers Industries Lawn & Garden Group’s abilities to effectively serve customers in the entire horticultural marketplace through superior selection, capabilities and service from the best brands in the industry.
This realignment will optimize our forecasting, workflow, manufacturing and supply chain operations to ensure customers have the products they need, when they need them. Our changes will also ensure that we are continuously improving our products, quality, capabilities and processes to help customers increase their sales and profitability.
In addition, Myers Industries Lawn & Garden Group will be better positioned to mitigate the impact of the weak economic conditions by aligning capacity and cost structure to profitably meet the needs of the market – and continue to grow to provide the best solutions that keep our customers growing!

3) What is the timing for the realignment of the production facilities?
All changes in our manufacturing will be implemented in such a way to avoid any disruptions to service during the peak season for our customers.
Changes have already started and, as announced, we anticipate full completion by the third quarter of 2009. We are now in the process of finalizing a detailed plan for the assignment of both new and existing equipment at other Myers Industries Lawn & Garden Group facilities.
4) Will Myers continue to produce and sell the Pro Cal nursery products and Listo
brand decorative planters?
Yes. We remain very committed to both the retail and nursery markets, and have already begun the process to relocate equipment and molds to our other facilities to provide even better service to our customers.

5) Will Myers continue to be in the material reprocessing and recycling business
at Dekka Resins in Brantford?
Yes. For the best structure of that business, we are only closing one of our Dekka recycling facilities. This will improve the overall workflow and productivity of the remaining facility to meet both current and anticipated needs of the market for recycled material.
The Myers Industries Lawn & Garden Group remains totally committed to recycling and sustainable activities to support our earth. We continue to increase our long-time focus on eco-friendly manufacturing with the production and use of recycled plastics, which Dekka does from post-industrial and post-consumer waste and scrap plastic. This, plus continued development of product lines using renewable or biodegradable resources, further reinforce our commitment to being the “green” manufacturer in the green industry.
